Schaeffer Academy Statement of Faith
The following is the foundation of beliefs on which Schaeffer
Academy is based. They are also the key elements of Christianity
that will be unapologetically taught in various ways through all grade
levels.
- We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, inerrant,
infallible, authoritative Word of God; inerrant in the original
manuscripts. We believe the inerrancy of Scripture embraces not
only religious truth, but also the Bible¡¦s scientific, historical, and
literary features. (II Timothy 3:15, II Peter 1:21).
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three
Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:
19, John 10:30)
- We believe that creation was an act of God, and that the
creation of man was a specific act of God, so that man did not evolve
from other species. (Genesis 1:1- 2:7, John 1:3, I Corinthians
15:45-49).
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John
10:30-33); in his virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35);
in his sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26); in his miracles; in
his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood (I Corinthians
15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9); in his bodily resurrection (John
11:25, I Corinthians 15:4); in his ascension to the right hand of the
Father (Mark 16:19); and in his future personal return in power and
glory. (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).
- We believe that people are born with a sinful nature (Romans
3:23, Ephesians 2:3, Psalm 51) and are in need of Jesus Christ as their
personal Savior. (Romans 6:23)
- We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from God to convict
the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment
(John 16:8); to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, indwell and enable the
Christian to live a godly life. (Titus 3:5, II Thessalonians 2:13, John
4:25-27)
- We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith
alone in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Savior and not as a result of
works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Faith, which leads to salvation, will
also be evidenced by good works (James 2:14-18). Therefore, we
believe that those who repent of sin and receive by faith the Lord
Jesus Christ are born again and shall be saved. (Acts 2:38, Acts
4:12)
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the
lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are
lost to the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29)
- We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our
Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians
3:26-28)
