At Schaeffer Academy, kindergarten introduces your child to formal learning while building a relationship between your family and the school. For a more complete description of the kindergarten program, please click here>>.
Kindergarten meets five half days per week. The morning session is 7:45 to 10:45 am, and the afternoon session is 11:50 to 2:50 pm. Our teacher, Mrs. Linda Davis, provides a calm and loving atmosphere suitable for our youngest students. Enrollment is limited to 24 students per section. If enrollment rises above 18 in a given class a fulltime aide is added.
We also offer a full day kindergarten option, five days per week. Enrichment studies in Spanish, music and art are offered in the afternoon, along with creative projects, field trips, and stories. Families can enroll for five days per week, three days per week, or two days per week for the enrichment portion.
Our academic kindergarten curriculum uses a phonics-based approach to reading readiness. Our goal is to equip children with sounds and letter recognition for reading, which is taught in the first months of first grade. Math and handwriting are the other primary subjects for kindergarten, along with enrichment in science, music, Latin, Bible and art.
Stop by during one of the scheduled weekly tours, 8:30 - 9:30 am on Wednesdays.
